Our Functional Lab Panel

Our comprehensive functional lab panel includes Thyroid labs (free and total T3, free T4, T3 uptake, TSH, and thyroid antibodies thyroglobulin and TPO), Iron labs (iron serum, TIBC, and ferritin), a comprehensive metabolic panel (ALT, AST, Alk phos, albumin, protein total, globulin total, fasting glucose, eGFR, BUN, creatinine, sodium, potassium, carbon dioxide, chlorine, and calcium), CBC with differential (hemoglobin, hematocrit, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, RBC, platelet count, and WBC), magnesium, vitamin D, 25-hydroxy, DHEA-S, hemoglobin A1c, CRP quantitative, LDH, Testosterone (free, direct, and total), B12, Folate, B1, and lipid panel (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides). For Males PSA is also tested. For Females estradiol and progesterone is also tested. If you are interest in ordering a functional lab panel click on the book a consult button on the main page.

Importance of functional Labs

Functional lab work represents a critical component of preventive healthcare, moving beyond the limitations of traditional lab testing covered by insurance. Traditional lab tests are often constrained by insurance coverage, focusing primarily on diagnosing conditions rather than maintaining health. This approach can leave significant gaps in understanding an individual's health status. Functional lab tests, on the other hand, aim to fill these gaps by utilizing tighter lab ranges based on research-driven standards of what constitutes a healthy range, rather than the average of a population. This shift towards a more precise and preventive approach underscores the importance of functional lab work in identifying potential health issues before they develop into diagnosable conditions.

Preventive Health and Early Intervention

Emphasizing prevention, functional lab work enables early intervention, crucial for maintaining long-term health. By identifying abnormalities within the optimal ranges before they escalate into more serious conditions, individuals can take actionable steps to address potential health issues. This approach not only supports a higher quality of life but also reduces the burden on the healthcare system by mitigating the need for more intensive treatments down the line.

Bridging Gaps in Healthcare

Functional lab work plays a pivotal role in bridging the gaps left by traditional healthcare practices. By focusing on prevention and the early detection of dysfunction, functional lab testing can guide interventions that maintain or improve health before the onset of disease. This is particularly valuable in a healthcare system primarily designed to treat illness rather than prevent it. Through the use of advanced biomarkers and tighter lab ranges, functional lab tests offer a more nuanced view of an individual's health, enabling personalized and proactive healthcare strategies.
